First Vegetable Harvest!

On Monday the 28th June the children at Redhill Day Nursery helped Ray the gardener to dig up and harvest our first crop of potatoes from the nursery allotment.

The children enjoyed hunting for the potatoes in the soil and were amazed at all the different shapes and sizes they found. They then helped to wash all the potatoes so they could be added to the nursery dinner.
We have also pulled up some carrots and the children have enjoyed crunching on these raw for their tea. The tomato plants have flowered and the beans, peas, lettuce, marrows, courgettes, pumpkins, sweet peas, spinach, rocket and all our herbs are all growing well and enjoying the sunshine and daily watering.

If the allotment continues to generate as much produce will we have to open our own vegetable stall soon!

Successful Open Day

Our open day on 6th March was a huge success with nearly 100 people coming through our doors to have a look round. Everyone gave us such positive feedback about the facilities both indoors and outdoors and many people had a chance to taste some of the delicious food we provide, freshly prepared by Leigh our chef.
Coming along to the open day gave people an opportunity to meet the staff team and have an insight to all the inspirational things we do at Redhill Day Nursery.
